First-gen students are students who do not have a parent or legal guardian who has completed a bachelor’s degree, and currently, almost 1 in 5 University of Iowa undergrads identify as first-gen. Being a first-gen student is an exciting accomplishment, and we’re thrilled to kick off Family Weekend with an event tailored just for you! Guests will also have the chance to play yard games with Campus Safety, ask your questions to Iowa Fraternity and Sorority Life professionals, grab some Iowa Family swag from pop-up Hawk Shop, and meet University Counseling Services staff. You can also check-in during this time to grab your Family Weekend swag item. 

Local food trucks include TC Bonez, Smiley's Soup and Sandwiches, Keepin Up with the Jones's, and El Gringo Loco. Menus and trucks are subject to change.

Join us for UIDM’s annual fundraising brunch to support pediatric oncology patients being treated at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. During the brunch, we will have a Silent Auction and our Runway of Hope Kiddo Fashion Show where our incredible UI Dance Marathon kiddos, along with their siblings and University of Iowa student leaders, will walk the runway.

The University of Iowa Dance Marathon creates and sustains special projects to provide emotional and financial support and services for pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant patients and their families treated at University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
