The UI Parent & Family Network sponsors and is involved with a variety of campus activities throughout the academic year.
Move-in Days typically take place the week before classes begin when the dorms on campus become available for students to settle in. Iowa City fills up fast for move-in weekend, so it’s important to make hotel reservations as soon as possible.
Get a glimpse of your student's life at college during Family Weekend! This annual event gives families the opportunity to experience the hustle and bustle of Iowa's campus during one of the city's most beautiful seasons. The weekend offers an array of programming options, including: campus tours, theatre performances, movie showings, a football game and family tailgate, a murder mystery dinner, and more. Homecoming at Iowa began in 1912 and has stood as one of the most longstanding traditions at the University of Iowa. This celebration of the University and its history brings together alumni, students, families, and friends for a week of events full of Hawkeye spirit. Commencement, or graduation, ceremonies takes place twice each semester at Iowa at various locations and times. Parent and Family Council
The Division of Student Life Parent and Family Council at the University of Iowa provides families a formal means of creating a connection to be better informed, share concerns, and strengthen the work of the Division of Student Life. Key RolesCouncil members will be asked to do the following as an active member of the Parent and Family Council:
Provide perspective and insight to the Vice President for Student Life and Division of Student Life staff. This can include reviewing strategic plans, providing feedback on programming, and suggesting ideas to strengthen the work of the Division.
