parents advisory board
Becoming a member
The Parents Advisory Board is a volunteer group of parents representing 20,000 families of UI undergraduate students. The board meets three times per year on campus with UI administration, faculty and staff, assists at Family Weekend Breakfast, and recommends programs and activities for funding through the Parent Fund for Student Support.
We are currently working on an application process for the Advisory Board to be launched in fall 2016. You can check back here for more information when it is available.
The Parents Fund for Student Support helps foster valuable connections between parents and daily life on the UI campus. With annual gifts, donors help build a remarkable college experience for today's Hawkeyes. Requests for allocation of these funds are presented to the Parent Association Advisory Board for review and recommendation.
Past initiatives funded included programs like Welcome Week and Family Weekend, the Late Night at Iowa -- a grant program for student-created, non-alcoholic, late-night programs on Friday and Saturday nights. Other initiatives serve as important bridges between UI students and their families back home. Family Calendar, Family Weekend, the Talking with College Students About Alcohol handbook, and the Mom and Dad of the Year award, for instance, are designed to help you remain connected with your Hawkeye. This fund also provides support for the Wellness Center in the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center. Learn more or donate here.
